Sector experience / Public sector
Public sector. Services everyone can rely on.
My experience includes work for government. Public services carry a special kind of responsibility: people often cannot choose another provider, so a service has to work for everyone, stand up to scrutiny and keep personal data safe.

Government experience
I have worked for government. I do not publish the details, so this page describes how I work rather than naming organisations or projects.
Accessible to everyone
Public services must work for people of every ability, device and confidence level. Accessibility is planned from the start, not tested in at the end.
Data handled carefully
Personal data, access rights, audit trails and retention are agreed early, with your security and data-protection specialists involved.
Built to be owned
Clear documentation and handover, so the organisation can run, audit and change the system long after a project ends.
What matters in public-sector work.
Public-sector projects move differently from commercial ones, for good reasons. Decisions need to be traceable, money needs to be accounted for and services must treat everyone fairly.
Procurement and accountability
Work follows formal procurement and governance. Scope, responsibilities and decisions need to be documented and defensible.
A legal basis for the process
Many processes rest on legislation and formal rules. Those requirements come from their owners, and the system must follow them faithfully.
Many stakeholders
Policy owners, operational staff, IT teams, suppliers and sometimes other agencies all hold part of the picture.
Long-lived systems
Public systems often outlast their projects. Fitting in with existing platforms and a clean handover matter as much as new features.
How I can help.
I can lead or deliver a defined workstream alongside your team and suppliers: connecting systems, designing a process, building a service, researching with its users or giving the technical work a clear direction.
I work within your governance, security and procurement arrangements. Where specialist input is needed, such as legal advice, security review or an accessibility audit, we agree who provides it. I do not publish client names, project details or internal material, and the same discretion applies to your work.
A sensible first step.
For a complex programme or an uncertain problem, a complex systems assessment maps the processes, systems, responsibilities and options for one workstream before a delivery phase is committed.
We agree how the engagement fits your procurement process before the work starts. Current prices are under Engagements & pricing.
