How I help / Run & grow it

Complex deals. The right people in the same decision.

I design and coordinate the review and approval process for complex deals, so commercial, financial, legal and technical input arrives in time and the decision-makers see the whole picture.

RichardDeal governance

Deal governance, at a glance.

What it is

A clear review and approval route for complex deals: who needs to see what, when, and in which order.

Why it matters

Big deals stall when a reviewer joins late or a requirement surfaces at the last minute. A known route keeps the momentum.

Who is involved

Sales, finance, commercial, legal and technical specialists, with senior leaders making the call. I coordinate; they decide.

What you get

A documented process, clear responsibilities, templates and, where it helps, automation for the repetitive parts.

Why complex deals slow down.

A large deal needs input from many functions. Pricing, contract terms, technical feasibility and risk each have an owner, and each owner has a queue.

When the route is unclear, the deal team spends its energy chasing people. A good review process makes the requirements visible early and brings them to one decision.

Reviewers join too late

A legal or technical concern raised at the final meeting restarts the work. Earlier involvement keeps the timeline honest.

Information is scattered

Each function asks for the same details in a different format. A shared pack saves repeated work.

Nobody can see the status

Where is the deal, and what is it waiting for? A visible stage and owner answer both questions.

How I approach it.

Map a recent deal

Trace how a real deal moved through review. Note the functions, information, waits and decision points.

Define stages and inputs

Agree what each reviewer needs, when they need it and what counts as ready for the next stage.

Make status visible

A simple tracker, templates or workflow, so everyone can see what is outstanding and who owns it.

Automate the repetitive parts

Reminders, collecting standard information and routine steps, while the judgement stays with people.

Global deal reviews at Vodafone Business.

At Vodafone Business, I coordinated the review and approval process for complex global enterprise deals, working with directors and senior leaders. The review brought together sales, finance, commercial, legal and technical functions, with other specialist input according to the deal.

My role was coordination and process responsibility, including automating parts of the process, rather than approving deals myself. I bring the same clear division of roles to client work.

Where to start.

A deal review process usually spans several functions and systems, so a complex systems assessment is a good first step. It maps the people, systems and dependencies across one agreed workstream and ends with a plan for the first delivery phase.

If you already know where the bottleneck is, focused discovery can look at that one step instead. Current prices are under Engagements & pricing.
