Engagements & pricing: The right shape
for the work.

A complex programme, an ongoing technical role or a focused build. We agree the scope, responsibilities and price together.

This is the scale of work I enjoy most.

A focused piece of work?

Clear starting points for a specific problem, a defined build or continued improvements.

Focused discoveryOne defined process. Up to four working days.£3,000 fixed

We agree the problem, access and outputs before starting. You receive a clear problem statement and solution plan, with a technical proof or clickable demo when it helps answer the question.

Discovery is a standalone paid engagement. Any delivery is quoted separately using its findings, so the same discovery work is not charged twice. A full fixed build quote follows once scope, dependencies and acceptance criteria are clear; otherwise we agree the first phase.

Defined implementationAgreed deliverables, responsibilities and budget.£600 / dayPlanning basis; quoted to scope

Well-defined implementation uses a £600 day rate as its planning basis. Estimates include development, coordination, testing, documentation and handover. Complex workstream leadership and delivery is scoped separately under programme engagements.

Fixed fees follow a clear scope and acceptance criteria. Short builds use 40% at the start and 60% at handover. Longer fixed phases use 30% at the start, 40% at an agreed milestone and 30% at acceptance. Day-rate work is billed monthly against an approved budget.

Planned improvements7.5 hours each month for changes and improvements.£600 / monthor £600 / day

Unused time rolls over for up to three months. I respond within two UK working days, and we schedule the work together. Additional implementation days are available at £600.

Business-critical operations, monitoring, incident response and recovery are covered by a separate agreement before launch.

Why are the day rates different?

The rate follows the responsibility: £750 for complex workstream leadership and delivery, £900 for an individual technical leadership day, and £600 for well-defined implementation. We agree which applies, the scope and the budget before starting. The monthly leadership option reserves 30 hours for £3,600.

No VAT added — I’m not VAT registered. Payment terms: 15 days. The same pricing approach applies across sectors and client types.

Your paid-for custom project code and documentation are yours. Pre-existing materials and third-party licences are identified in the proposal.

Working together: Easy to work with.
Serious about the work.

You work directly with me, from understanding the problem to building, testing and handing over the solution. I keep the work clear and your team involved.

  1. 01

    Start with the real problem.

I talk to you and the people doing the work. We agree what needs to change, and what a useful result looks like.

  2. 02

    Agree the way forward.

We define the work, responsibilities and commercial terms. For a larger programme, we agree the delivery phases and the role you need me to take.

  3. 03

    Make it work, together.

Short cycles, working software and feedback from your team. I test the details and make the trade-offs visible.

  4. 04

    Leave you in control.

Documentation, training and your custom project code, with third-party materials clearly identified. I can stay for ongoing support.

And if I’m ever unavailable? You’re never locked in. I document as I go and share everything with you, so the work can be handed over exactly where it stands and someone else can carry it on.

Wait. Why does that work?
